What are the advantages/disadvantages of an unlocked cellphone? - advantages of teleconferencing
I usually buy contract mobile phones. Basically, what I know, "phones" are open and what they can or can not do with them? anyone?

Well, if you buy a phone or a friend, like a BlackBerry, you need not enter into a database and can be used as a voice plan. You can not do much. It's just a way for you to use in another network. For example,
My phone is now with Rogers
I get it unlocked
Now I can use it to Bell, Fido, Telus
or
My phone with AT & T
I get it unlocked
What can I do with a SIM card from T-Mobile now use!
I know it can be confusing, but like to contact me and I can better explain it. Unlock costs no more than 25.00
